Prepare the device. Start your commentary.

From confirming your identity to ending this commentary, follow eight steps to understand the process. Complete pre-departure preparation first, then continue on site according to the App’s actual status.

Android guidance

Before you begin

01Install the applicable App, and have an active Guide activation arrangement from the agency or an eligible account arrangement.
02Have an active tour assignment, an XE300 device, and the network required for first-time verification/activation.
03Prepare the relevant Android WiFi, camera, and microphone permissions, and arrange another traveler’s physical device for testing.

Actual screenshots of successful Guide sign-in, tour selection, activation, and commentary are not yet available. The steps below follow official documentation and are not successful tests from this occasion.

Confirm your Guide identity first

On the welcome screen, you can scan the Guide activation QR provided by your agency, or sign in through your arranged personal-account verification path. First-time Guide QR activation requires a valid, unused, unexpired QR and online verification.

The most important point in this step

Personal sign-in does not equal Guide eligibility. If you are eligible with more than one agency, choose “Choose your agency”. Do not give travelers your Guide activation QR.

1. Confirm your Guide identity first
On the welcome screen, you can scan the Guide activation QR provided by your agency, or sign in through your arranged personal-account verification path. First-time Guide QR activation requires a valid, unused, unexpired QR and online verification.
Personal sign-in does not equal Guide eligibility. If you are eligible with more than one agency, choose “Choose your agency”. Do not give travelers your Guide activation QR.
2. Select your assigned tour
Enter the verified Guide interface and Live Guide. Select this active assignment with “Select your assigned tour”; it may be selected automatically when there is only one, but you must choose clearly when there are multiple.
If “No active tour assignment. Contact your agency.” appears, contact your agency first. Do not manually enter an arbitrary Tour No. or use demonstration data.
3. Connect the device, then start it
Connect to the XE300 WiFi first, then select “Start Tour Companion”. Follow the Android permission and connection requests, and use the network that corresponds to the selected assignment.
“Start WiFi Test” is not formal Tour Companion activation. This website does not configure, restart, or connect any device.
4. Wait for the App to confirm readiness
During activation, the App shows “Starting Tour Companion” and “This usually takes about 3 minutes.” Wait for the actual status; continue only when the App confirms “Tour Companion is ready”.
Three minutes is a UI estimate, not a tested guarantee. If it fails, select “Try again”, or cancel and contact staff.
5. Show travelers the correct QR
Once the device, selected assignment, network, and commentary conditions are ready, select “Show QR”. Let travelers in this group scan this Live Guide QR to enter the corresponding network and commentary.
The QR contains tour-network information and is for this group only; do not upload it to a public website or treat it as a general invitation. This tutorial contains no usable QR.
6. Start commentary and confirm travelers can hear it
Allow microphone access, then select “Play” to start or resume. Have one traveler who has joined confirm the sound on a physical device; the guide’s Play screen alone does not prove the traveler received audio.
The same interoperable WiFi, actual joining, and microphone access must all be in place. Confirm volume, headphones, and distance on site first.
7. Pause or mute at the right moment
Select “Pause” to pause this commentary and “Play” to resume. “Mic On”/“Mic Muted” control only the microphone, and are different from pausing or ending.
After a traveler turns off their own speaker, resuming Play by the guide does not turn local playback back on for that traveler.
8. End this commentary, not the tour
Select “End Guide” to stop this commentary. Travelers can keep the tour and wait for the next commentary; this differs from a traveler selecting “Leave Tour”.
A sudden disconnection does not necessarily mean the guide ended it intentionally. Assess the App status and the on-site situation.
